Women’s Rights In the Fertility Community

Last Friday, we witnessed the historic overturning of Roe v Wade. This left many concerned and confused about the impact this could have on the use of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).

Please be assured at this time that there is no impact on any available ART services in the State of California, including IVF (in vitro fertilization), embryo disposition, PGT testing, IUI (intrauterine insemination), or cryopreserved (frozen) embryos, oocytes, or sperm.

We continue to provide the best fertility care possible and will continue to support our patients on their journey toward parenthood. We will continue to fight for our patient's reproductive rights and stay informed and up to date on any updates about reproductive medicine.

Impact Across The Country

While we don’t expect this decision to directly impact the care or treatment options available in California, we don’t know what this change means for each state that will now be responsible for creating their laws in response to the overturning of Roe V Wade.

Fetal personhood laws are being discussed in many states and could threaten people seeking medical fertility services. These laws can interfere and lead to several unnecessary restrictions for available assisted reproductive technology services.

These new laws could restrict access to fertility care and decrease their chances of success. We also don’t know what repercussions this could have for women in other states who endure a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy while trying to grow their families.

What We Can Do

We feel very strongly that women’s healthcare rights need to be protected, and we will continue to do our part to fight for every one of our patient’s rights. We will also continue to voice our opinions and vote on these matters.

We encourage people to get involved as well. Each of our voices must be heard, both in and outside California. If you want to take more action in your home state, we encourage you to reach out to your state representatives and continue voting. These are the best courses of action to ensure women’s rights are not taken away.
